[ale] Monitor goes into sleep mode

do xset -q in the shell.  See if you have a dpms option listed with the 
three times for screensaver, low power, and off.  If you do then execute 
"xset dpms off".  You can make a little shell script that will execute 
when you log in to take care of this.
