But so many of the things that are "missing" aren't needed by the "vast 
majority". 

 Fax software. bah!.   I don't need it.  I've got a fax machine.

WYSiWYG HTML editor.  Very few offices need this.

Contact Managment.  Well, this is need by more but many many companies operate 
without such today.  And there are certainly web-based solutions.

The real problem is "vertical/internal applications".  As companies move these 
to the web, or (perhaps to Java), this becomes a non-issue.  That's why these 
technologies are so appealing - you break a tie to given platform.
