[ale] glibc recovery RH9

Second update: :-)
Fixed symlink in /lib/tls/ for libpthread upon reboot since that got
moved back by some init script during boot. Ran rpm to remove the
broken glibc rpms. Rebooted successfully. Then had to switch to KDE
instead of Gnome since Gnome won't run properly. I don't have to time
to mess with Gnome now, plus I prefer KDE anyway.

I seem pretty much back to normal. The buildmodules saves me on reboot
since the Nvidia stuff gets rebuilt automatically. The only small
problem I have left is that the glibc development rpm is still the later
broken one since gcc depends on it.

PS. RedHat's Konsole has tabbed shells disabled. :-(
The Panel won't extend over both monitors. :-(
KDE runs, the machine runs, and I can work. :-)

I know what update packages were applied, so if I force the old packages to be reinstalled will I recover or is a simpler way to make the packages that were updated depend on the older glib?

Plus, I run hyperthreaded with a SMP kernel. Thanks for your help since I am at an impass with my knowledge of how best to proceed.
