I've heard (several years ago) that Nextel were sleazy lying bastards.
I won't take a chance with them.

I've had BellSouth -- now Cingular -- for 8 years and always have been
very happy with them. (I'm slightly biased, having consulted for BellSouth
Cingular.) I love my Nokia phone.

My GF likes her AT&T phone, though I considered AT&T to be the Deathstar
until M$ rose in power.

It is important to analyze your usage before considering a plan. BellSouth
does not charge a roaming charge within their area of operations, which is
most of the Southeast. Some competitors may offer a similar coverage.

I travel to the Northeast and California a lot and get nailed by roaming
charges 'cause I selected rollover minutes instead of free roaming and I've
been too lazy to switch. If you talk more and travel less, the rollover
minutes will be more valuable to you. Consider the length of the contract
that is offered too.

(Btw, replacement batters for phones, laptops, and everything else can be
had at Batteries Plus.)

No problem,
