[ale] [OT] Gigabyte 6VTXE MB and Celeron 1.2Ghz won't play :-(

If that board uses a VIA chipset, pull the ram out and try booting. It
should beep and grip then. If so, the ram is the incorrect type for the
board. I recently ran into the same problem with a different board but a
Via chipset. It was very picky about the ram it would take. I gave up
and vowed to never piece another Via board together.
