Thanks James!  So outgoing mail from your machines goes thru mindspring 
but incoming mail essentially bypasses mindspring via your DNS MX 
record.  As a backup path you can have the fetchmail path available as 
well.  I think I've got it understood now. :-)  I appreciate your 
instruction!
