[ale] Software RAID Tuning

Does anyone know of a good reference for how to adjust software raid
settings in Linux?

I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I'd like to try adjusting the amount
of cache used but I can't find where that could be done.  I've seen where to
change the chunk and block sizes, but I'm pretty happy with the throughput,
just not the response time.
