To confirm that the problem is not related at all to your hard disks,
try downloading toms root boot and booting from it. If the machine
comes up, then your problem is most likely on the HDs somewhere, if
not - its pretty likely that you need to replace some mem chips.

Since no one else has answered, here's my impression.  You have bad
memory.  Try pulling banks out one at a time and see if anything
improves.
