I would like to comment that the serial port modem seems to be the best
route for this. I have a USB port modem with caller ID. While vgetty
shows in the logs that callerID strings appear, it has problems handling
them in any form. Most of the tools for accessing the voice modem will
cause an instant hard crash. (Recording an outgoing message...)
