[ale] X frozen does abiword do timed backups?

Tell her not to do anything for the meantime. Get there. Inspect the
situation and mail back. See if she at least saved something. Look for
abiword swap files or something similar. Digest those with
/usr/bin/strings.

See how badly is X locked up. If necesary, mail abiword people asking
how does abiword respond to kill signals, maybe one of them will make
abiword save and quit.

Now, if she can't get to the terminal, try the Magic SysRq key (assuming
she is running Linux) for unrawing the keyboard, that works *sometimes*.
If all is lost and there's no other way but reboot, use SysRq to Sync,
RemountRO and Reboot. Don't just use the power button.

Just out of curiosity: Why does her X server locks up? NVidia drivers?
What version of X? What distribution of Linux/UNIX?
