I would love to see the transparent bridge firewall demo.  Plus, I haven't
ever seen OpenBSD as well.  What about that being the Dec. meeting?

PS.  I'd like to do CUPS sometime since I use it at home and at work.

If no one else volunteers then I could show off OpenBSD 3.2 and the setup of
a transparent bridge firewall (uses no IP's, just interfaces) with pf, which
is a stateful firewall program (replacement for ipf - comparable to ip
tables in the Linux world). OR how to set up a simple website on a secure
box OR a Linux based firewall product called Smoothwall - which has nice
graphs, Snort, DNS, allows pinholes, can be used for vpn's, is really super
simple, has never been cracked, and is multi-homed, simple, small (around
200MG), and FREE (both in libre and beer). It really is a good product.

Too bad I know nothing about embedded Linux (hint hint Floyd Brown III).

To increase the students I would contact the Computer Science department.
If someone would do some flyers, then I would be more than happy to
distribute them.

The CUA certification folks over at the Continuing Education place might
also help get the message out.

Subject: [ale] ALE-NW meeting for December

I'm (still) looking for input on a meeting for December. :)

The Central meeting (at Emory) has been moved up a week, so I'm thinking
it would be prudent to move the NW meeting up a week as well, to Dec.
12th, in order to put more buffer between the meeting and the
Christmas/New Year holidays.

What do folks think?

Also, it appears to me that the attendance at the meetings of late have
had reasonable body counts, but limited number of KSU students. I'm
looking for suggestions as to how to increase the student attendance at
the meetings.

Thanks folks.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
