[ale] Slow samba print

I've got a samba box as a print server. It uses a pass-through printer
for a few windows machines to print to the epson inkjet. The problem is
a 2-5 minute delay between printing from the client and the printer
actually doing it's job. There are two spools happening on the samba
box, a samba print spool then lpr.  Is there a parameter to speed up the
samba spooler transfer to the lpr spool? I may have this set up wrong.
