[ale] recapturing processes

I think to use screen to do this I would've had to start the process from
within screen...

What I'm interested in is a process that has been created under my user id
to write to stdout and to a log file. It was put into the background around
two weeks ago. I'd like to capture it and bring it to the foreground on
another tty. Is this possible?

Thanks!

John
