[ale] vmware and W2K v. WXP

Greetings,
 
I have inherited a problem, and I am a newby with 
Linux.
 
I have an app that run on a box with vmware and 
Win2K, but will not run on another box with WinXP.
 
One suggestion was to rip out WXP and install 
Win2K, but the computer's owner doesn't want to do that.
 
So, where do I look for info on making vmware 
compatible with WXP?
