I was assuming that when you said usb modem, it was an analog modem. 
I've not seen a usb cable/dsl modem.  Not that they don't exist, just 
that I may have made an incorrect assumption.

So yeah, you need one of the following, dsl modem, cable modem, analog 
modem, (satellite modem???).  What I was trying to say, but did not is 
that you don't need an analog modem if you've got dsl/cable.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
