Until someone comes up with viable GPL'd or BSD'd replacements for the JRE
and the Flash player, most freely available distros will still require
additional plugins to be downloaded (unless, of course, Sun and Macromedia
liberalize their distribution terms).

Some additional thoughts on the Mozilla/Java problems for Kevin:
- Did you upgrade to 0.9.9? RPMs are available from Mozilla and Red Hat's
  Rawhide distro dir.
- Did you test a variety of applets, by chance? You probably did, but it
  never hurts to ask ...
