Most ISP's in recent years have started to cut down on newsgroup
access. Even if your ISP provided newsfeed it (most likely) won't
have the selection, retention, and freedom a premium news provider is
going to offer.

The main reason is this: bandwidth / disk space is
costly (especially for a relatively small group of people), also ISP's
don't want the liability of potentially offering pirated or sensitive
material to (basically) anyone. This is especially relevant when you
start talking about teen and pre-teen access to pornographic material
via newsgroups.

I would suggest looking at Easynews or Giganews. Easynews runs about
$10.00 a month and has great retention and selection.
