I like pine, too, though it logs you in with the news server as your
local login name. You may have to create another account if your news
server requires you to authenticate.

I use netscape(4.7x?) most of the time.

I used PAN a while ago and didn't care for it(a little crashy). I'm sure
it's been improved by now, though.
