[ale] kernel upgrade newbie

Only 7.3 has the 2.4.18 kernel. There are "issues" with various related
things concerning modutils and some other stuff. There was a README (I
can't locate the link now, sorry) that detailed the situation as to why
there was no 2.4.18 for any but RH7.3

One can get the kernel-2.4.18.src.rpm and do a rpm --rebuild on it. It
will take a LONG time! Even on a dual PIII 500 w/512MB ram. It builds
every type of kernel that RedHat distributes.

If someone wants to really master the RPM process, kernel building is
the way. Second choice is X!
