And mine would be, try everyone else first, and when there are no more 
choices, go with Bellsouth.

There's too many other companies out there to ever suggest going with 
the regional monopoly.  Bellsouth just doesn't care, because they don't 
have too.

I'll tell you a story.  I'll try and make it short.  A while back in my 
other 'hood, I was trying to receive a number of faxes over a period of 
time for work.  Bunch of folks kept telling me it was busy, a line I use 
for nothing but fax and dial up at the time.  I put a phone on it that 
has a line indicator, and sure enough, the light would light up.  At 
times for a few seconds, other times for minutes.  The phone didn't 
work, so I added a splitter and stuck a working phone on there.  The 
next time it lit up I put it on speaker phone to hear some guy talking 
to his girlfriend.  You know, "how's it going" that kinda stuff.  So I 
pick up the phone and ask him who he is.  She immediately hangs up, he 
says he works for Bellsouth.  Tells me the do this all the time when 
their out on a job and they always look for a 2nd line in a home 
assuming it get's less usage.  You see, Bellsouth was running new fiber 
through my 'hood.

Long story shorter, I contacted Bellsouth, attempted to lodge a 
complaint.  They referred me to the supervisor for those guys.  I left 
him 5 messages, he never returned one.  I moved up the ladder, same deal.

Bottom line is, they're the new monopoly in town.  They bloody don't 
care, cause they don't have to.  The only way you can change that is to 
USE SOMEONE ELSE whenever you can.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
