[ale] Why so many updates to RedHat?

Don't use -U unless you know that you already have them installed.  Use
-F to only 'Freshen' packages that are already installed.

Even easier is to use up2date.  I prefer to use apt-get, but you
actually have to set it up.  It's not hard.
