Subject: [ale] Quick cp question ...

I feel like an idiot, but rather than repeat past mistakes, I figured I
would ask.

I am getting ready to upgrade the hard drive on my main server to one with
a larger capacity. There are 3 mount points and data contained that I want
to copy. However, in one of my mount points, there are a *LOT* of
Symbolically Linked directories.

When attempting to do a 'cp -rRpP *', it descended into the symbolic
directories and copied all the data instead of just copying the symbolic
link.

What would the appropriate cp command be? 'cp -RP' ?? 'cp -rpx' ??

FYI - I'm only copying data files, and not system files. (Those are on a
separate drive -- so no need to run a tar > untar setup)

Thanks!
Jay
