Yes,

Charlie at Computone and I are the masters at this.

/etc/lilo.conf:

serial=0,9600n8

image=/boot/kernel
    ....
    append="console=ttyS0,9600"

Ha.

/etc/inittab:

s0:23456:respawn:/sbin/mingetty ttyS0

Subject: [ale] serial console

I would like to use the linux serial console for one of my boxes. What
I'd like to do is have that serial connected to the serial of my primary
box so that I could pull up an xterm on that box with the console output
of the previous box. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had ever done this? I know you
normally need a null modem cable for serial console, but I'm thinking
that since I'm going to another serial port, that won't be necessary, or
would it??

Anyone see why this is NOT feasible?
