[ale] selling stuff

So I guess even the prefacing of the subject line with "OT: For sale" or
"FS: " isn't enough of a clue to hit the Delete key? I know we're trying to
keep this to Linux-oriented discussions, but I don't think we're turning
into the atl.forsale group anytime soon.

The Zwiki thing has merit, but some of us don't hit it very frequently, and
I suspect that's the case for others as well. Sometimes when you're selling
something, it can be the last-ditch attempt before pawning off to the used
computer shops so you can scrape up some meager amount of cash before your
landlord kicks you out, etc. The "timing is of the essence" thing. OTOH, if
the Zwiki provided automatic notification of new posts to a "For Sale" area,
that'd be the best of both worlds.

I say all this because I'm about to purchase a new or slightly-used desktop,
and to help pay for it I was going to sell my three- and four-year-old
laptops. I figured since both of them ran Linux with varying degrees of
quality, it'd only be slightly off-topic, as maybe someone out there is in
the market for a laptop that's guaranteed to run Linux, especially if XFree
modelines and sound card parms were provided.

Now going to the next horizontal leaf in the slightly off-topic search
tree ... is it just me, or does anyone else miss the good ole' days when
recruiters would hunt down individual ALE posters with job opportunities?
