[ale] trying to compile 2.4.17, driver/block errors->undef refs to: invalidate_buffers...........huh?

Greetings !

When trying to compile 2.4.17 under RedHat6.1, I get...........

drivers/block/block.o
In functions: del_partition & blk_ioctl
	undefined references to invalidate_buffers

I searched Google but no clarity, for me.

What's wrong and how is it remedied, please ?
