If you don't need ESMTP support (if you don't know what that is, you probably don't need it), try running ./configure with the --help option.  Look though the long long list of help options, and you will probably find an --enable/disable_esmtp or --option_esmtp=enable/disable {or something like that}.  Run ./configure again, and specify that option as disable/false/whatever is appropriate.  Or install the esmtp lib, whatever that is. :-)  (ESMTP is an Enhanced/Extended Simple Message Transfer Protocol...some of the stuff spoken by Sendmail/Procmail/et.al.)
