	Are you using xfs (X Font Server)?  Since Mandrake is RH based, I'll
bet you are.  Search Freshmeat for "xfstt", a replacement for xfs
that'll handle True Type fonts.

	You may also need the "FreeType" library.  Freashmeat will have that,
too.
