[ale] Mac + Linux question

If you're using Mac OS X you've got both samba and nfs clients on your Mac.
I haven't been using the nfs client myself, but there's info on the web. I do
use the samba client. I have found it usable, but still needing some work. It
gets slow when a mounted directory has a large number of files in it and
seems to have some trouble seeing when files have changed on the server.

To mount a samba share: In the Finder choose "Connect to Server..." from
the "Go" menu. In the address field type in smb://hostname/sharename.
You'll get a dialog asking for workgroup, login, and password. Once
mounted, the share will appear on your desktop.
