[ale] moving partitions

I have a question on a similar note...

I need to redo a drive on one of our servers... basically, just clone one
drive to another, but with different sized partitions on the target drive.

I have used Ghost in the past for this, but have not had much luck getting a
bootable drive in the end with Linux... It is something to do with LILO, I
am sure, but am still a newbie as far as Linux goes, and am not clear on how
to get LILO moved to the new drive.

Is it better to install LILO in the MBR, or on the / partition?

How do I move/copy the MBR intact from one drive to another? I have
included the 'try to copy MBR' switch in Ghost, and it still didn't work.

TIA

Charles

'cp -a' is your friend. It'll copy links, sockets, fifos, and device files
intact. It'll retain ownership and timestamps. It basically clones a
filesystem
to a new spot.

Check it out.
