[ale] Go free or not to go free, this is the question...

We've been using c-tree and d-tree (Faircom) since about 1989
There are about 100 users on our system in 10 remote locations all
running a db which is about 1 gig in size. We are not using the "Server"
which is the only Faircom product which fufills the requirements
@1,3,4 and 7 below.
Having the source is worth its weight in code...even if its not free.
