I just installed bare woody saturday.
make boot floppies and do the install.
after configuring base system it will 
prompt for installing software, just
skip that step. You will have a base
system with couple shells and basic 
utils. apt-get everything you need 
from there.

perhaps you have gotten the question before, i am
going to make a debian system from scratch. i was just
wondering what packages do i need to get to the point
of being able to install deb packages? i was going to
build the os to that point then dl just what i wanted
from that point... i would need to use a eth0
connection. if you know where i could go instead that
would be great.
