If you start R/x, you should be presented with a 
list of "sample" connection types (aix, hpux, dec, etc). You can usually just 
choose the generic unix.rxc, change the host, and login using that (telnet, 
rlogin, etc). Then you can save that modified .rxc file as the login for that 
machine. I have several icons on my desktop that log me into several different 
machines as different users. I also have a couple that do a rlogin, then run a 
script that starts gnome and displays it back to my Win2k box. Since I run 
Multidesk on the Win2k, I can have a desktop for each machine. This way I only 
have to use my 21" monitor for everything. As a matter of fact, 3 of my linux 
boxes haven't had a monitor or keyboard connected to them in probably more than 
a year. I'm too cheap to actually BUY one of those KVM switcher 
things.
 
One other thing...make sure you've done your xhost 
command, ie xhost +.
