[ale] sendmail problems

The panic messages are generated by your /etc/init.d/sendmail
script as it cleans up the queue before starting sendmail.
Unfortunately, the script doesn't give many clues for why sendmail
stopped. Does the server completely exit, or is it just hung?

I've noticed every now and then that mail seems to stop arriving. If I
restart sendmail I get this:

{0}:wally:/var/spool/mqueue>/etc/init.d/sendmail restart
Restarting mail transport agent: <incomplete: /var/spool/mqueue/dff5FKobEN010916> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Dff5FKobEN010916> <panic: /var/spool/mqueue/Qff5FKobEN010916> sendmail.

If I clean /var/spool/mqueue I'll find that I can restart sendmail and
mail starts coming in again. This just happens out of the blue.

Thoughts?

Robert
