[ale] Update TAR problems

Winzip works fine for me with Windows NT. I have used it to unzip some *.tar.gz files that are PHP programs and have never had any problems.

If you have a copy of WinZip installed on the NT box, you might wish to
check whether it will unpack the zipped tarballs. I believe WinZip can
unpack a *.tar.gz file - in fact on NT Exploder, those files show up with
the little WinZip icon representation.


That might help you sort out where they got corrupted.
