Why don't you use pump instead? I also have a Xircom card and
don't seem to have DHCP problem.

Subject: [ale] Pulling a DHCP address from WinNT

I have trouble pulling a dhcp address from my company's WinNT 4.0 DHCP
server. I am running Debian Potato on laptop. The Xircom network card
works fine, I can grab an IP from my Linksys router at home. In
/var/log/syslog I get these messages:

dhcpcd[7132]: broadcasting DHCP_REQUEST for 192.168.1.21
dhcpcd[7132]: dns option is missing in DHCP server response. Assuming
x.x.x.x
dhcpcd[7132]: hostName option is missing in DHCP server response
dhcpcd[7132]: dhcpInit DHCP_NAK server response received
last message repeated 3 times
dhcpcd[7132]: dhcpInit DHCP_NAK server response received
dhcpcd[7132]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response
