[ale] using "chage" to disable accounts

Scott,

Thanks, but I want the accounts to expire automatically on a certain day. I
don't want to manually disable hundreds of temporary accounts.

An option to disable the account is to use an asterisk '*' in the
password field of /etc/passwd, similar to the nobody user.
