[ale] slack 2.2.26 Generic not talking to Netgear RT314

Well, I got this spiffy new Netgear RT314 for my new DSL
connection, but my Slackware 7.1 box doesn't want to talk to it.

I'm pretty certain my routing and arp tables are correct.

Here's netstat -r:

 7  * * *
 Ad nauseum . . . . . 


In other words, puddin (the slackbox) can talk to every host on
the net except its gateway, which means it can't talk to the
Internet.  Any ideas on why this would be?  Any help?
