[ale] Journal Filesystems

I am hoping for an answer like,

"They are all great.  Except for this one (ext3fs?), which
allows you to upgrade your ext2fs without backing-up."

Is there such a beast?  This is a home machine and I can
whack it if gone wrong.  Reiserfs, jfs, requires recreating
the filesystem.
