I have seen a write up in the Linux DSL HowTo's.

PPPoA is usually involving hardware. I have seen a situation where
an external device was given with PPPoA instructions. This is an
3Com dual-line Office Connect.

I am totally confused with the ATM part of it! The thing has both
ethernet/USB. It must be some kind of PPP, but PPPoE does not work.

Any insights?

Bao

PPP over ATM.

There's some linux support for it. Look in the 2.4 kernels and / or Jens
Axboe's directory on ftp.kernel.org for his patches for pppd, device
drivers, etc.
