First - I installed under redhat 7.0

I guess you read the install doc at:
http://www.netraverse.com/support/docs/Win4Lin-2.0_Install.php

Make sure you disable the automount of the cd rom. I assume win4lin
does some kind of funky assignment to make the cdrom the windows N: drive.
Not disabling the automount gave me problems although not as
bad as yours.

FYI: Problems I ran into inder Linux 7.0 -
Needed to update glibc to build win4lin kernel

I tried to adjust the screen size under the windows display settings. To
make a long story short
never assume it will be the correct size, the OK CANCEL buttons on various
screens
were unreachable. :) Make sure you use the option to revert to original
screen settings in 15 mins.

After the initial su - root install of the master win4lin libraries,
I tried to install windows via su to a userid I created called windows. I
ran into Xauthority issues which I am
trying to work out now. The reason I did this was that if win4lin is a one
user license,
I wanted the kids in my family to be able to use windows under the same
license/userid.

Win4lin is slower than I wanted it to be but still a good package. (Pentium
233 / 96 meg)

The netraverse support is not too bad (24 hour response via email for me)
plus it looks like they have a live chat on their web page.

Later, Stan

Subject : [ale] debian and win4lin 2.0?

Anybody successfully installed Win4Lin 2.0 demo on Debian potato?

I patched the kernel source, converted the rpm to deb package format
with alien, and installed it manually (w/o the script). I run
winsetup and select "Install DOS" from the system-wide installation
option, but it won't mount my Win98 CD and spits out the following:

sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `(null)/mcd'
  sh: -c: line 1: `(null)/mcd -d /dev/cdrom -m
           /var/win4lin/cd-search.671 -c'
sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `(null)/mcd'
  sh: -c: line 1: `(null)/mcd -d /dev/cdrom -u'

If I mount it manually and alternately specify /cdrom (or
/cdrom/win98) as a directory to install from, a window quickly appears
and vanishes, and nothing seems to change. I guess 2.0 isn't quite
ready for Debian yet....

Any help appreciated!

TIA, Brandon
