[ale] A little gripe

THis is why 9/93 is referred to as "The September that Never Ended."  It
used to be that the only  big Internet newbie rushes were in September when
college terms started - in 1993, that was when that surge of newbie-ness was
at the start of a rapidly-growing noise floor...
