What kind of connection from the Windows box are you trying to make? 
PPP?  Windows normally expects to be able to drop right into PPP, and
authenticate via PAP or CHAP (or MSCHAP).  If you want to do a scripted
login, you can write a script (I think there's a 'generic login script'
on the Windows side that might work), but I find it easier to use
mgetty's AutoPPP functionality to drop right into PPP.  Make sure you
specify the 'auth' option in your pppd options so the incoming call is
forced to authenticate via PAP or CHAP.
