so as stated, i figured i'd post some sort of a review about my feelings
with regards to OS X beta....it's not technically linux, but it's in that
vein....

well....you can telnet in amongst other things, but personally i think
it's a huge step for apple....since it is a bsd kernal, they've thrown a
lot in that i initially wasn't expecting...now i haven't tried using any
of these but here's a list of things i was happy to find:

apache, openSSL, perl, TCL, sendmail, diff, gawk, grep, and tar

but when i telnet in i can see config files for ssh and a bunch of other
stuff in /etc...i haven't played around with any of the bsd distros yet so
i'm not sure what the file structure is like, but so far, aside from a few
commands, most of it feels like a *nix machine....

but it's apple, and apple is really known for either how much people hate
or love their gui, and how many flavors you can get their products in to
match your clothing.

:)

su - works...that's nice...however terminal type "linux" is unknown so
editing anything remotely seems to be out of the question...

i like the gui...i know most people are going to say "it's too much of a
processor hog" with the amount of little animations it has (man are there
a lot....complete with a little puff of smoke when things are dragged out
of dock....

<shrug>

who knows what the user base will say about it...but i like it...anyone
else played with it yet?...i think i remeber someone mentioning something
related to a mac recently...

-drew
