I upgraded to 4.0.1 version of the XFree86 and it runs much better
on my Sis Card at home.

Subject: [ale] xterm weirdness

Hello all,

I ran into an oddball problem. I was trying to put a new NIC in my
machine,
and was having trouble, so I decided to reinstall RH 6.1. When I was
done,
the gdm login screen had black boxes where there was any text. If I
logged in,
all the text was the same. Xterms were fg on fg color, no matter what I
tried.

Switching to the virtual console, I managed to find the no_accel flag in
the
graphocs/monitor XF86Config file entries the fixed the gdm/Gnome
problem, but
I still have the xterms fg on fg. I'm using an SiS 5597/5598 graphics
board
(built-in to the mobo) and an NEC 4FG monitor.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
