[ale] Advice fo a fast pipe...

greetings...

I'm new to the area and seeking advice on fast connection options in
Atlanta. I've already scanned all the ALE archives, DSLReports.com, and
some newsgroups, but with less success than I'd hoped.

We already ordered the BS FastAccess kit, but I've been hearing such ill
stories about BS and their ADSL setup that I'm considering sending it back
unopened. It is an absolute requirement that whatever solution I get (be
it DSL or Cable) can handle a small home network. I've got a P75 with
Linux ready to do the firewall and IPMasq. We have 4 other computer's and
a little 4 port hub that need to be connected.

Now, I'm guessing that there's no *nix drivers for the internal Efficient
ADSL modem we got -- but if there are, I suppose the data could come in on
the modem, and then get sent out of the NIC (after masqing) to our
network.

If anyone's done this, or knows it can't be done, or has concrete advice
on other options (hopefully advice that won't require spending $$ on a
router), I would truly appreciate it. If you prefer off list responses,
please send them to "kerry at w3m.org" directly.

Thanks in advance...
