[ale] ftp login problems

That's correct in format, any of id's in the list should get a login failed 
message when you try to ftp in with that id.  If the id you are running as is 
in the list you either need to take the id out of the list or use a different 
id.  My suggestion would be to use a different, possibly a new and unique, id 
for the task.  We make extensive use of subsystem id's for the subsystems that 
run on our servers, for instance we have an slabor id for the labor management 
software.  It's not privileged like root, bin, lp, etc. so there is less risk 
in allowing it to connect via ftp.

If the id you are using is not in the list then you'll need to look elsewhere.
