[ale] Console via serial port (ttyS0)

This is an old email but I did find out the problem.  Remove the kudzu startup and you'll be fine.  This has been fixed on RH 6.2

There were not getty process on the serial port.  However there needs o be
one so that login will execute after Init has finished strtup scripts.  The
box never gets to the point of runnning the getty before it acts up

did you remove the getty process from the serial lines
in the /etc/inittab file?
