[ale] eth0 vs eth1

Are you by any chance running a dual-boot machine with Windows? If so,
you might want to get familiar with setserial and isapnptools. At any
rate, run setserial with no aerguments and pipe the output to less. This
will show you where it thinks all the devices are. I used to have to
change the port for my modem on bootup.
