that's a pager
all vwm's have a pager of some sort
what you are seeing is not a desktop lager than your screen size.  it's
multiple desktops lined up next to each other
enlightenment, afterstep, windowmaker, and others have a pager of some kind
built in.
it's a nice little feature

to explain the desktop problem that we're discussing,, try imagining a
desktop so big that you have to scroll to move across it
it's a way of having 1600x1200 desktop area with monitors/cards that don't
support that resolution
