If you're in the north part of DeKalb County that's serviced by Comcast (NE
Atlanta and Chamblee), Comcast @Home is available. Since I was in a beta
area, they charged no installation fee. I already had an Ethernet card, else
they might have charged me for one of those as well. They do, unfortunately,
require Windows or MacOS for installation. But converting to Linux was a
snap, once I found out that I needed to use the original DHCP client daemon
(dhcpcd) instead of Red Hat's new "pump" client, which doesn't take a
hostname for a parameter. It's $40/mo., including cable modem rental, but that
assumes you're also a cable TV subscriber.
